The Interview Advocate

I tweeted this over a month ago:

The backstory for this tweet is that due to being the most senior person at my job, I help make staffing decisions. I also have experience in recruitment. Unfortunately, we end up passing on resumes due to errors such a formatting or simple spelling mistakes. It’s disheartening to see someone with potential fall to the wayside without us having an opportunity to see their skills. I try to advocate on their behalf, but it does not always work. With the encouragement on my online pals and my family, I decided to actually move forward and try to be a resource for people.

Over the past month or so, I have been working on creating The Interview Advocate.  My goal for The Interview Advocate to be an affordable option for job seekers looking to write or refresh their resumes/CVs. I also plan to write weekly blog posts on resume tips and career advice. I do not want to pressure anyone into anything, I just want to be of service and help write success stories.

I wanted to share what I have been up to, please feel free to spread the word.

Thank you ❤

  1. Great idea! I’ve helped several people with their CVs. The last two I did both landed the jobs they were seeking (obviously I can’t get the full credit for that, but at least they got the foot in the door). I did a lot of recruitment as a senior manager. To be able to look ‘from the other side’ makes all the difference, as does having the skills to put the content across.
I’m sure you’ll do very well. Good luck with it!

  2. I love this idea I dread having to rewrite a resume and cover letter but when I started to tailor each specificity to the job I was apply to I got a higher percentage in callbacks. It would be nice to have a service where someone could see just how effective it looks and give some advice! I love this!!

  3. CV writing and cover letters just fill me with dread! I remember seeing your tweet about the spelling error, and I was shocked that one small thing can make such a huge difference. Granted, there are certain fields that are understandable if they’re detail-oriented with regards to spelling and grammar such as journalism or editorial roles, but I was surprised to find that it was such a big deal anywhere else. So glad you’re doing this and proud of ya! 🙂💕
