Introvert Life

Allow Us to Reintroduce Ourselves!

Before I begin, let me start by saying I appreciate you. Whether you have been in this space since the early days, are new here, or just passively stopping by, thank you for your presence.

It’s always hard to put yourself out there, but when you do, it turns out there are many like-minded people who are also searching for understanding and community. You still may be unique, different, and weird, and those are the best parts of you, but you’re not alone.

Now, let me introduce you to my weird corner of the internet!

💜 Hello, gentlepeople, my name is Tiara! My pronouns are fluid, but I primarily use They and She; using both sets interchangeably makes me feel most affirmed.

💜 I write about my experiences with introversion, mental health, and processing life when feeling misunderstood. I’m on a reclamation journey and recently discovered I’m neurodivergent, which has made my life make so much more sense. What started as a tool to help me find my voice has transformed into a space to normalize not following the norm. Through my writing, I try to encourage self-reflection, self-compassion, and personal growth.

💜 If this is your jam, my big three are: Leo sun, Aquarius moon, and Libra rising. If you’re a fan of personality assessments, I am an INFJ.

💜 As a true introvert, I enjoy staying indoors; being outdoors in nature, especially near the water; large amounts of solitude to socially recover, process, and explore my inner world; and fostering deep connections. Small talk, superficial bonds, surprises, and most social situations are very draining to me. I tend to shut down from being overwhelmed.

💜 I love humanity, but I find people and society very perplexing. My insatiable quest to understand human behavior led to my pursuit of degrees in sociology, psychology, and social work. It’s also the undercurrent for this space, as I found myself differing from most people and needed an outlet to discuss.

💜 I have a lot of creative ideas but terrible follow-through. For example, at the writing of this, I currently have 85 unfinished blog drafts. I can be my own worst enemy at times. Though I am very encouraging for other people, I tend to be very self-critical and unnecessarily harsh on myself. Sometimes this also means I have to take breaks between actively posting to build myself back up.

💜 My favorite posts to write are about critiquing society and analyzing social justice issues. Unfortunately, these pieces are often labor-intensive, both emotionally and intellectually.

💜 I am a very private person. My blog touches pieces of my personal life, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. They’re pieces of me, pieces of thoughts and feelings, but not a complete picture. I have created a safe place to be vulnerable. You may understand me better, but you will not know all of me.

I think that’s plenty of information about me for now.

I am much more curious about you. How about leaving a little introduction about yourself in the comments? Here are some questions I have for you, but please feel free to share what you’d like:

  • What’s your name?
  • Why do you like Muted Mouthful?
  • What do you wish more people knew about you?
  • How do you like to have fun?
  • What do you admire most about yourself?

  2. What a great idea: I might possibly steal it. Something that people don’t know about me is I often tend to laziness/inertia: other people’s inspiration is always appreciated.

On to the request: Michelle, though I tag as “em” on social media, and I include blogs in that category. I follow you because I adore the way you write and what you have to say. What don’t people know? Goodness knows: perhaps that I can hold a grudge – not a quality about myself I admire. I do admire the fact that I always manage to pick myself up and keep going. Like some tragically determined Energizer Bunny 😉. As for pronouns, they’re she/her and sometimes we, but I don’t generally share the last one in any meaningful way. It’s private.
